Stress Management Ways to End Your Day
You have had a long stress-filled day. How can you end it on a positive note? Sleep is a valuable resource and is needed by the body to restore and restore your much-needed store of energy. Sleep is one of the first things affected by chronic stress. You can get into some bad nighttime habits that take away your ability to sleep and get the quality of sleep you need. Ending your days on a positive note can ease chronic insomnia caused by stress. Statistics show that most people only get an average of six hours of sleep. That is less than your body needs.
Ending your evening with a nighttime walk can help your stress. Exercise has many benefits as well as stress management. Taking a walk just before bed can release tension and will not overstimulate the body. Some researchers debate whether walking before bed can help in sleeping, but doctors who specialize in sports medicine believe it improves sleep.
Listening to music throughout the evening and right before you go to bed and give you a sleep-filled and restful night. Listen to soft sounds of nature paired with beautiful music to help you wind down and release the tension from your body as it nears your bedtime. Obviously, hard rock or rousing hip-hop is not a good choice to help you release stress!
Another good way to end your day is to get rid of the clutter. Cleaning allows you to sleep knowing you won't have to face a mess in the morning. Clutter can cause extra stress. If you are used to ending the day with watching TV or the local news, you may choose to close out your day with quiet games on the computer. They can be a great distraction but aren't intense enough to cause problems with your sleep. The games will also teach you new skills, help you unwind from the day, and keep you mentally alert.
Feeling stressed before bedtime? Try having a warm bubble bath! Just soaking in the hot water and smelling the fragrance of the bubbles will free your mind of troubles and leave your mind free. A massage is another way to loosen the tension in your body and prepare it for sleep. You may want to trade massages with another family member, or if no one is available, there are self-massaging tools available.
Journaling, or writing down your day is a great way to reflect on the events of the day and release stress. It can clear your mind, help you think through problems, and help you prepare for the next day. If you find yourself writing only negative emotions, try writing a journal of thanks. Write down all the events or people you are thankful to have around you.
Meditation and prayer will also help rid your mind of negative emotions and promote healthy sleep habits. If you have a partner and in a committed relationship, sex is also a great way to unwind, release positive chemical in your brain and promotes a healthy body.
There are some things you should avoid before bedtime. You should have no caffeine after 2 PM, and avoid confrontational or stressful conversations before bed. End your day on a positive note and you will find you have a better chance of having a good night's sleep.
